CampusLife Redefined, Refocused and Relaunched!

Written by Andrew Ford

In an age of AI, social media doom scrolling and virtual reality, why would I relaunch a community program for students to help them Connect, Work and Play?

The answer lies in my fundamental belief that humans want to interact with other humans in the real world.  Look into real eyes, feel their energy and get the full spectrum of non-verbal communication cues.

Having taught students for over a decade, I have seen the steady decline in class attendance, participation and discussion. Just last week I was in class and almost every person was on a device whilst listing to my lecture. They are not being rude to me, they show up and genuinely appreciate the vigor I approach my teaching role with. It's just they are not used to face to face communication. They don't know how not to be on a device as multitasking is constant these days.

We scroll Instagram whilst watching a movie, text friends while in meetings and have our phones in our hands while having coffee with friends.

But I have also seen a trend for young people wanting to connect. They want to work from the office to see their colleagues and share experiences. Be part of communities that support and appreciate them and learn from those who are more experienced.

This is the real mission of CampusLife. To help young marketing students to gain real world experience to prepare them for internships, adulting and the transition to work life. It's scary for young and shy students to get 'out there'. They don't know where to start and there are not many support services to help them make this transition to productive members of society.

So after a 2 year hiatus in CampusLife whilst we researched the best and most practical ways to help our students, we are relaunching with a new way of working.

The first baby step is to choose 20x marketing students in Melbourne to do work experience with CampusLife helping our sister company BYOB's clients. BYOB is a six month business program helping corporate escapees to start and scale a personal business. It's full of CEOs and founders who are transitioning from big companies to running their own small business.

They need help with digital marketing and technology, websites, social media and so forth. A young and perky digital marketing student who is a digital native would be a great help for them as they are use to having staff do these things for them.

For students, they get experience working with mature business people. Running real digital marketing campaigns and working in a professional manner.

Once the students finish their work experience and successfully achieve our requirements, they will be promoted on our CampusLife application to be hired by the same companies, Social Star or other small businesses.

If you are a student visit our website for how to apply. If you want to support our mission to help the next generation of marketers reach out as we would love to discuss your support and assistance!

Just as I have received wonderful support in my business, let's help the next generation.
