You’re Not On Your Own: The 3 Layers of Support Inside the CampusLife Internship

Starting something new, especially when it’s your first step into real marketing work, can feel overwhelming. That’s why the CampusLife internship isn’t just about giving you a project and hoping for the best. It’s designed with a structure that prioritises support, mentorship, and growth, every step of the way.

Whether you’re learning how to write your first content plan, manage a Notion board, or talk to a real business owner on Google Meet, you won’t be doing it alone. Here’s what that support looks like, and who’s here to back you:

Your Business Owner – Your real-world client and day-to-day mentor

As a CampusLife intern, you’ll be partnered with a real entrepreneur taking part in the BYOB (Build Your Own Business) program. These are early-stage business owners who are actively applying marketing strategy to grow their brand and they need your help to make it happen.

You’ll work closely with your business owner each week, helping them implement real tasks like social media content, branding, research, email strategy, and more. Think of them as your first client, someone who will guide you, challenge you, and give you insight into what it’s like to work in a business, not just learn about one. You'll be included in team calls, given clear briefs, and asked for your input. It’s hands-on, practical learning in real time and your business owner is your first touchpoint for feedback and direction.

Andrew Ford – The big-picture mentor with the playbook

Andrew Ford, founder of CampusLife and Social Star, is the driving force behind the whole experience. With over 15 years of experience in corporate and entrepreneurship, he’s created a program that combines real strategy with personal growth and every part of CampusLife is built around the business-building model from his BYOB course.

You’ll hear directly from Andrew in recorded training modules and live sessions during the program. He also runs weekly calls with the BYOB entrepreneurs, where he breaks down the marketing framework and answers questions live. He will also run monthly calls to support CampusLife students with their progress and will cover a specific topic, with the assitance of other marketing professionals. Andrew is your link to why things are done a certain way and his job is to make sure the entire experience is aligned to industry standards, so you leave feeling ready for real marketing work.

Pearly – Your go-to support system for all things marketing and logistics

Pearly is your person. As the Marketing Coordinator at Social Star (and a digital marketing instructor at RMIT), she’s across the day-to-day running of CampusLife and is here to make sure you feel supported, clear, and confident throughout the internship.

You can reach out to Pearly directly via email any time you’re unsure about something, whether it’s a marketing question, a systems query, or a confidence wobble. She’s also across intern onboarding, training tasks, and helping you get set up on platforms such as Canva and AI tools. Think of Pearly as your safety net, always there to help you troubleshoot, reflect, and get back on track when you need it.

Why this structure matters

You’re not here to “figure it out” alone, you’re here to grow with support. The combination of a real business owner, a strategic mentor, and a dedicated coordinator creates a three-layered system that’s designed to help you learn faster, work smarter, and build the confidence you need to take your next steps.

So whether you’re just getting started or already mid-way through your CampusLife experience, remember, the support is built in. All you have to do is reach out and take it.
